Floor Sanding
The floor sanding process involves the abrasive sanding of original timber floor boards using high quality floor sanders as well as edging machines, Polyvac buffers and orbital sanders.
Prior to the job commencing, a physical inspection is conducted to determine the processes required to achieve the customer’s expectations for each individual floor. Once the job has been assessed we will organise a suitable time to commence work.
All jobs will require a minimum of two days to complete as there are multiple coats of polish applied which each require approximately 12 hours in between coats so the product can cure appropriately. As we take pride in our professionalism and cleanliness, all of our floor sanders are fitted with vacuum suction bags to ensure minimal dust is released inside the premises when sanding your floors.
We commence each job ensuring the existing floors are free from any exposed nails, staples and any other objects which could interfere with the sanding process. Once this has been completed we will punch/sink all nails that are exposed by hand and fill using colour matched timber filler. At this point all floors are ready to commence sanding with the floor belt sander.
Each room will be sanded initially using the belt sander to complete the first sand of your floors known as a rough sand to get all floor boards level. The second sand involves using medium grit sanding belts which ensures the surface is prepared for the final sand and frees the floor from any previous damage such as scratches, dints and other imperfections.
At this point we start sanding the edges of each individual room by using an edging machine to ensure the surface is even all around. Once the edging has been completed the floors are ready to receive the final fine sand which will prepare the floor for buffing. This process uses fine mesh grit sanding pads to ensure a clean top finish to the timber floor.
